“With all prayer and petition pray at all times in the Spirit, and with this in view,
be on the alert with all perseverance and petition for all the saints.”
Ephesians 6:18
The sending of greeting cards to friends, family, colleagues, acquaintances and neighbors is an age- old tradition in America. Now, rather than buying a generic greeting card, you can have a Saint James Armenian Church prayer card sent on your behalf. Prayer cards for bereavement, healing or a special occasion (Thanksgiving, Christmas, birthdays, graduations, etc.) can be sent by the church on your behalf. The cards will have the name of the person for whom prayers are offered, your name and a brief message from you expressing your sentiments. All you need to do is fill out the request form, which is available in the vestibule and online. It’s that simple!
Memorial Prayer Card
Words of consolation and the offering of prayers for deceased relatives, friends, neighbors, acquaintances and colleagues is an ancient and pious custom of the Church. If you have neighbors, acquaintances, coworkers or friends who have suffered the loss of a loved one, Saint James Armenian Church will send, upon request, a bereavement card on your behalf expressing your condolences and prayers. The prayer card will contain your name, the name of the person for whom you are offering prayers and the date when Memorial Prayers in memory of the deceased will be offered to God at the Holy Table during Divine Liturgy. Memorial prayer cards remind people that their loved ones are remembered by you and the entire St. James family.
• Prayers can be requested for any deceased regardless of their faith or ethnicity.
• The name of the deceased and the name of the person requesting prayers will be published in our weekly Sunday bulletin.
• Memorial prayers will be said inaudibly by the priest in his private silent prayers during Divine Liturgy unless a Hokehankisd Memorial Service has also been requested.
• The office of St. James Armenian Church will send the card in your name and on your behalf to the bereaved family.
Healing Prayer Card
You can also request prayer cards offering special prayers of healing for sick or injured relatives, friends, neighbors, acquaintances and colleagues regardless of their faith or ethnicity and whether or not they are part of the church family for any Sunday of the year. The prayer card will be sent to the person for whom prayers are being offered by the church office. The name of the person and the one making the request will be posted in the Sunday bulletin on the day of the prayer offering. The person for whom prayers are requested will also be remembered by name during Divine Liturgy.
